The Company was incorporated in the year 1974 to take over the business of the partnership firm namely, Saurabh Construction Company, which was engaged in the manufacture of Asbestos Cement Pressure Pipes, R.C.C. Pipes etc. since 1964,
In the year 1980, the Company established a cold storage of 6000 MT capacity at Pithampur under the name and style of Kalani Cold Storage.
In 1982, the Company established another unit for manufacture of Asbestos Cement Pressure Pipes at Pithampur under the name and style of Kalani Asbestos.
In the year 1988, the Company established a division for leasing and financial activities under the name and style of Kalani Finance.
During 1995-96, the Company developed a row-housing project comprising of 150 row-houses and 5 multi-storeyed buildings consisting of 126 flats on a land admeasuring 1,75,000 Sq. Ft., which earlier was used for the R.C.C. pipe factory. The project was completed and sold in a short period of 2½ years.
In 1998, the Company entered into the field of non-conventional energy and set-up a Wind power generation of 1.86 MW capacity at Rabadiya Hills, District Dewas (M.P.). It also provided consultancy services and set up a 6 MW Wind Farm project on turnkey basis for the Escorts Group, New Delhi. Thereafter, in the year 2001 another Wind Power Generation with a capacity of 2.76 MW was established in Jaisalmer (Rajasthan). It was then in the year 2002, the company decided to gradually concentrate on Non-conventional Energy Generation and hence, the Kalani Finance Division was closed in the year 2002.
In the year 2003, the Company having decided to concentrate only on eco-friendly Non-conventional Power Generation and therefore, hived off the Asbestos Cement Pressure Pipes Division into a separate company under the name and style of MRK Pipes Ltd. Cold Storage was sold in the year 2005. Since then considering the social responsibility and the environmental concern of the Kalani Group, Kalani Industries Pvt. Ltd. is only engaged in Wind Power Generation which is basically viable only with the CDM benefit and is also exploring the possibility of exploiting solar energy, which again requires CDM benefit support. However, since presently lot of research work is going on for the development of more efficient solar cells, the company is waiting for the appropriate time to go for the solar energy power generation with CDM support in a big way because of the present power shortage in the State of Madhya Pradesh as well as in the whole country.

Finance
The Company has a paid-up capital of Rs.52.26 million and Net Worth of Rs.247 million, as on 31st March, 2008.
The Bankers to the Company are State Bank of Indore.
The first wind power generation project was established by the Company in the year 1998 in the State of Madhya Pradesh, by installing 8 Nos. Enercon, 230 KW (approx. 2 MW) wind turbines, imported from Germany. These are the latest technology gearless turbines, having variable speed and pitch technology.
The second wind power generation project was established by the Company in March, 2001, in Jaisalmer District in the State of Rajasthan. Total No. of 12 turbines of 230 KW (approx. 3 MW) ‘Enercon’ make, have been commissioned. It is proposed that another 5 MW to 7 MW wind power project would be established in the next 2/3 years i.e. by 2011.
Future Projects:
Renewable Energy Sector
Considering its social responsibility and environmental concern, Kalani Industries Pvt. Ltd., which is a group company of Kalani Group, plans to continue its expansion programme in the Wind Power and Solar Power Generation, which needs CDM support. New sites are being considered and the survey of land is continuing. It is proposed that by 2025 the company is able to have a Non-conventional Power Generation capacity of approximately 25 MW mainly from Wind Power and Solar Energy.
